In 1987, there was a significant unmet need for an overnight animal clinic that specialized in emergency service of animals in the Greater New York-New Jersey area.
Breaking the traditional paradigm of serving both patients and their owners in a 9am to 3pm setting, The Veterinary Center (VEC) was the “first of its kind” animal hospital in the United States.
Dr. John F. Sangiorgio began this new level of service for all patients and their owners. His vision was to create a facility that accommodates your pets with general prophylactic (preventative) or routine care as well as emergency service. His motto continues to reign after twenty years of practice and that is “saving lives, relieving suffering and pain and stamping out disease.”
The practice is open 365 days a year seeing clients 8am through midnight, and accommodating hospitalized pets with an experienced technician 24 hours a day. Hospitalized pets are never left alone. Clients can call any time to get the status of their pet.
Today, The Veterinary Center has five attending veterinarians on staff experienced to handle almost any emergency situation. The workforce of licensed technicians and assistants all operate according to one concept which is to provide care, comfort and attention to every pet.
The hospital is equipped with and provides:
- A state of the art digital radiography system
- On-site laboratory
- Tonometry
- U.S.D.A. Certificates for international travel
- Surgical and Intensive Care Units
- Routine and orthopedic surgeries (spays, neuters, dentals, bone fractures, tumor removals, and more…)
